Hi, i’m new using Smartlaunch 4.1, I wanted to know if there is a possibility to make a client work with the normal desktop when he’s logged in?
Some of my clients also wish to get access in my computer?
Could you please help me sir, thanks.
March 15, 2010 at 11:14 am
Unfortunately this is not possible in the current version of Smartlaunch. It is however a feature we would like to include in a later version.
March 17, 2010 at 2:13 am
It really would, but some features must stay secured like the network. One more thing, I can’t get my microsoft applications to work. I’ve installed it the same directory like the server pc, can I get some help please?

I did what you said Sir Michael, but I still get the same error. I formatted the unit as well but I’m still getting the same result. It says cannot find the version to run this application. It’s really giving me a headache.

Hmm..ok. I think you should create a ticket for this in our support system: http://smartlaunch.helpserve.com/ . I will then get back to you there

I’m having some issue with our internet connection lately. And by the way. I also have another problem, some of our clients lately are having a .NET problem. It says something like this: “cannot find the version to run this application.” I don’t have any idea why that problem occured. We have a .NET version of 2.0 as a requirement for SmartLaunch. What I did was to I formatted a unit but as soon as I installed the client and rebooted it, there it goes again. Can you help me with my problem Sir Michael? Thank you.

If you submit a ticket here: http://smartlaunch.helpserve.com/ and post a screenshot of the error, I can take a look at it – no problem
If it is .NET though that’s complaining you could try installing the latest .NET 3.5 Service Pack 1 update. It can sometimes fix errors in the older versions as well.

Naaahh. I can’t post a screenshot since I changed the shell to the SmartLaunch client. Furthermore, I disabled the task manager. ^_^ So I can’t access the Windows to disable the client. I’m only a technician here. LOL. Anyway, Tnx Sir Michael. I’ll update you later. Thank you.
August 20, 2009 at 12:51 pm
Sir are there any links where I can update the SmartLaunch manually? Tnx…
August 20, 2009 at 3:13 pm
Hi,
No unfortunately not. Why do you need to update it manually?

Hello, can you please post some more information on this topic? I would like to read more.

Sweet Another update
May 21, 2009 at 1:06 am
So, did you manage to fix user permissions? I would like to give my employees access to applications, but not pricing. It appears to have the option under employee permissions, but it doesn’t work.
May 22, 2009 at 11:07 am
That’s odd, this is the first I’m hearing of this. And it looks to me like none of the employee permissions for the server is working except the server access one and the clear log ones I personally created. That’s not cool
Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll get working on this ASAP, and it will be in the next update
May 23, 2009 at 3:09 am
SWEET, thank you very much, when can we expect a release? The previous update took a long time.
May 25, 2009 at 1:34 pm
Later today
May 25, 2009 at 5:36 pm
The update has now been released
May 26, 2009 at 4:33 am
Fantastic! Thanks for the help! That was a speedy update and it’s very much appreciated!
On another note, sometimes when applying steam license management to a game on the sever, the server will crash as well.
Also, many times while in Admin mode, the client will crash, preventing logs from being generated.
Also, if the text or size of the client interface was larger on wide screen resolutions, it would be greatly appreciated.
May 26, 2009 at 10:41 am
Do you get any error messages when the server crashes when applying steam license management to a game?
Same about the client crashing in admin mode – does it say anything – any error?
About the skins, there’s a SL4 fullscreen skin available at: http://smartlaunch.omnicrola.com/
I think this might solve your wide screen issues.
May 26, 2009 at 6:32 pm
There is no error when the client crashes in admin mode.
When applying the steam license management, an error does occur. However, I will have to wait until the issue occurs again during a time customers are not here. I don’t want the server crashing then.
I am currently using a widescreen skin, however, the text and the client is very small. I suppose the solution is to create my own skin.
Admittedly, none of this is CRITICAL.
Thanks!

I have seen that problem as well.
When creating a new Steam game profile in SL, when it comes time to select . Ah took a while to find it here is my post on it in, {Home » Smartlaunch Support » License Management » SL and steam license management}.
http://forum.smartlaunch.net/FindPost20321.aspx
And here is the bug report I made back on 12/03/2008.
http://forum.smartlaunch.net/Topic19742-11-1.aspx
ok I just checked to see if its still happening for us here and yes it still is with us using sl4.1-build 351.
May 27, 2009 at 5:15 pm
About the steam thing, I’ve marked the two forum threads and will take a look at it when I can, thanks
About the admin mode crash. Next time it happens make a note of what you did. Anything that might help me reproduce it, or it’s impossible to fix
, and then create a ticket for it I can take a look at
About the skin. I don’t think we will be releasing a new skin for 4.x to be honest, with version 5 on the horizon (which uses a whole new skinning system).
May 27, 2009 at 10:12 pm
There are two issues that plague us still:
1. You cannot void a purchase that comes off an account. For example, I use the 1 dollar on my account to purchase a snack. It would be nice if I voided the transaction and it reversed the stock changes, time additions, and money subtracted from the account.
2. The text on the client will randomly disappear, or it will not respond to clicks. It appears completely random. It is easy to fix, you just need to log out the current user or log in a new user.
Rare bug:
- Not sure what causes this. Sometimes a user cannot be logged in and SmartLaunch claims “User is already logged in”, when they are not logged into any console. It can be fixed by restarting the server.
As far as the client crashing in admin mode, it happens while booting into admin mode randomly. It is probably conflicting with another program or something.
May 28, 2009 at 7:06 pm
1. I can understand that. That would be helpful. But it’s a bigger change and something we can not do for 4.x. But it will be something we will consider for version 5, definitely, thanks. I would suggest you add it, and any others you might have, to the version 5 feature request site: http://feedback.smartlaunch.net/pages/7515-smartlaunch-5
That way other users can comment and vote for your requests, and the more users vote for it, the higher the chance we will make it
2. My first guess is this is Flash related, because since the client still responds to a log out the underlying program has not frozen. If this occurs on a specific pc I would suggest reinstalling Flash Player.
“User already logged in”. This is something others have reported as well and we are looking into it. Currently we have no idea why this happens however. It appears to be totally random and we have yet to been able to reproduce it
All we know is it must have something to do with sessions not being closed, since a server and not just a client restart is necessary. If you find a way to reproduce it, please create a ticket so we can find the cause
“Admin crashing”. It’s something I believe I might have heard at some point but without being able to reproduce it, it’s impossible to fix

SWEEET ^^
I’ve been checking the change Log’s for over a month wondering when you guys were going to make a release.
- 0001140: [1 - general issue] Exploit by disconnecting network cable (MOL)
I saw this one… when you guys fixed it… it doesn’t mean that if the server is disconnected from the Network oh lets say because its fighting another Admin PC for control of the Master Browser.. that it will cause all the users to log out will it?
So here I am checking out some of these new reports….
Account usage every thing shown are all
$0 Deposits, all Withdrawals…. is that the way its supposed to be?
… Exactly what is it supposed to be showing… @_@.
May 19, 2009 at 11:15 am
The exploit fix doesn’t break anything in that respect no. It’s handled locally on the client
About the new reports. Actually now that you mention it, I should add a note to that one in the change log. That particular report works for accounts from the point of upgrade, not for older data. It necessitated a database change so it’ll only work for newer data
May 19, 2009 at 9:20 pm
Ah that’s good to hear. I was worried there for a bit.
ok gotcha I’ll let the boss know about the database change and how the new report collects only new data.
